Governor of Arizona Katie Hobbs has vetoed the blockchain know-how tax payment prohibition invoice SB 1236 launched by senator Wendy Rogers as a result of the laws will hamper policymaking relating to the state’s web3 area.
Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona has vetoed invoice SB 1236, which goals to ban the state from imposing taxes on crypto mining actions and blockchain node operations.
SB 1236 goals to bar native governments from prohibiting or limiting residents from operating a blockchain node for mining actions.
In a letter addressed to Senate President Warren Peterson on April 12, Governor Hobbs clarified that the vetoed invoice’s definition of blockchain know-how is just too broad and should hamper policymaking efforts regarding an “emergent and potentially energy-intensive economic activity.”
Despite vetoing SB 1236, Gov. Hobbs has reiterated that she’s open to collaborating with the Legislature to seek out revolutionary options supporting the state’s thriving economic system whereas partaking native stakeholders to formulate such options.
In Jan., senators Wendy Rogers, Sonny Borrelli, and Justine Wadsack proposed invoice SB 1240, which is aimed toward introducing property tax exemptions for crypto. The Senate accredited the invoice. Now the House will look into it.
